Counseling Center

Counseling

The Counseling Center plays a vital role in the mission of SUNYIT. Individuals attending college today bring with them life stressors that impact upon their ability to do college work successfully. In conjunction with other areas, the Counseling Center assists in the development of the emotional, physical and psychological well-being of all students. Test anxiety, procrastination, financial worries, death of relatives, dealing with alcohol and drugs, establishing positive relationships, or examining one’s sexual or cultural identity are representative of life stressors that students bring to SUNYIT and the Counseling Center.

The goal of the Counseling Center is to provide immediate intervention in situations where an individual proves to be a danger to himself or herself or those in the surrounding area. The Counseling Center provides quality individual and group counseling that enhances an individual’s self-esteem and empowers the individual to make decisions.

If you know of a student in need of assistance, please contact us or submit a Project Help form (pdf).
